Of all the classics in the Doormouse catalogue I think this is the one I like the most. 3 tracks of solid broken hardcore that are full of interesting ideas and unusual samples but still devastating on the dancefloor.
The A side is probably the most heavily played, with a familiar operatic sample set to some absolutely gigantic kickdrums that creep in and out of the track at 200+ bpm as more distortion is added. "Paint Fumes" on the B side sounds a bit more like earlier Distorts, but with lots of edits and chopped amens into the mix. And "Itt Technical Institute" rounds off the EP at a slower pace, with more melody and a slightly melancholic atmosphere, with the ever present Doormouse kicks arranged in a less relentless, almost funky groove. Well, almost.
A perfect introduction to one of the most original artists in hardcore and breakcore and without a doubt one of my most prized records!

Here's to romanticizing depression, alcoholism and heartbreak. Music for a dark and terrible mood, sucks for me that it's on heavy rotation. thezitznarf
